Players from the Northfield Area Church Softball League will go to bat for the Northfield Community Action Center (CAC) Sunday, July 8, in the 23rd annual benefit softball event.

Players from the 16 church league teams will mix and match to form several teams that will compete in an all-day, fellowship scramble tournament. Games will be played at both Sechler Park fields and Babcock Park. The championship will be played at Babcock Park around 5 p.m.

Each league congregation will be raising funds for the event. They will be matched by funds pledged by First National Bank, Community Resource Bank, Thrivent and Frandsen Bank & Trust.

Over the past 22 years, the all-star game has raised more than $85,000 for the CAC. The funds are used for the food shelf, transportation, shelter and general support of our neighbors in need. The summer is often the time of year that the CAC has its greatest need, especially for the food shelf.

People are encouraged to come and watch the game and make cash donations. If you are unable to attend and want to donate, please make checks payable to the Northfield CAC and send them to: Scott Richardson, 1004 Elm St., Northfield, Minn.
