Volunteer at First UCC

There are many ways to serve at First UCC.

Below are listed just a few. Interested in sharing your gifts? Fill out the interest form below.

Worship

From ushers to scripture readers and communion servers…worship happens because you help make it so!

Children and Youth

Children and Youth need trusted, caring adults to help them as they learn, grow, and navigate their faith. There are opportunities to volunteer as a Children’s Faith Formation mentor, to hang out with the middle and high school youth group, and to assist with Confirmation and the Our Whole Lives curriculum. Leaders are also needed for the Children’s Faith Formation Team, which shapes Children’s Faith Formation activities through the year.

Care Team

The First UCC Care Team delivers meals, drives people to appointments, and provides support for families and individuals going through times of illness, grief, or other crises. Care Team is always looking for people who are willing to volunteer to provide transportation for those who need to go to appointments or can’t make it to church on a Sunday on their own.

Prayer Shawl Knitting

The First UCC Knitters meet on the first Thursday of each month to knit prayer shawls. These shawls are distributed by the Care Team to those in need of an extra sign of care. New knitters are always welcome to contribute their craftiness!

Adult Faith Formation

Do you have a gift for leading peers in study, questions, and fellowship? Leaders are needed for CONNECT groups, small groups for adults that meet for 6-8 week sessions throughout the year.

Special Functions

The Special Functions committee provides hospitality for funerals, memorials, and occasional special events for the church. Volunteers are needed to host events as they occur, and to bake and cook.

Coffee Hour

Hosts are needed each Sunday to provide Coffee Hour hospitality following worship. Host duties include picking up a bakery order, making coffee, and cleaning up after Coffee Hour concludes. Interested? Sign up to host here.

Landscaping

During the summer months, hardy gardeners are needed to maintain First UCC’s rain gardens.

Ministry Teams

Are you called to help shape the ministry activities of First UCC? There are opportunities to serve on the teams that oversee Faith Formation, social justice ministries, congregational care, and more. There are also opportunities to serve as a member on governance based committees that manage the operations of the church, such as Facilities, Trustees, and Church Council.

Do you have a gift to share that doesn’t fit on this list? We want to know about it! Fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and let us know about what you’d like to contribute.
