Derek Melby, Finance Manager

Derek serves as the Financial Manager for First UCC. He retired from a long career with the FAA which started with 5 years in Air Traffic Control but transitioned into 25 years of working in software. Prior to that he also spent 2 years as a teacher in the Peace Corps. He and his wife, Carrie, have lived in the Northfield area for 30 years raising 2 daughters who also still live in town. While neither his education nor his work history prepared him for doing accounting, he was raised by an accountant and has always enjoyed the challenge of learning something new. He welcomes the opportunity to serve the congregation which has become important to him in the last few years.
