Palm Sunday: Sunday March 20, 10:30 a.m. & 5:00 p.m. The story of Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem and his Passion on the cross.
Prayer Vigil for Racial Justice: Wednesday, March 23, 6:30-7:00 p.m. This event canceled due to winter storm warning. We encourage you to remember the AME 9 and pray at home! Last summer, nine people were murdered in a racially-motivated massacre while they prayed together at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, SC. In response, the MN Council of Churches has organized a year-long series of weekly prayer vigils to honor the dead. First UCC Northfield is hosting the vigil during Holy Week. We will hold the Mother Emanuel AME congregation and families of victims in prayer, repenting of systemic racism, and asking God to heal our country.
Maundy Thursday: Thursday, March 24, 7:00-8:00 p.m. “Maundy” is a mandate, a commandment. At the Last Supper Jesus shared with his friends, he commanded that they love one another. We will remember and embody this commandment tonight. Through anointing with oil, we will remember the woman who shared a special sign of love and care with Jesus.
Good Friday: Friday, March 25, 12:00-12:30 p.m. A quiet and contemplative retelling of Jesus’ final moments.
Easter Celebration: Sunday, March 27, 8:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. With song and word and prayer, we will celebrate and give thanks for the mystery of Christ’s resurrection. American sign language interpretation will be offered at the second service.
