Partnering up with a Carleton-based program called &#8220;Free Food, Help Yourself&#8221;, high-school aged youth constructed two raised-bed gardens full of vegetables which can be enjoyed by anybody from the community at large. The aim of the program is to create a sustainable and local source of food, and to welcome all who are hungry to enjoy it. Now that the beds have been filled with soil and seeds, the vegetables will grow and be tended by members of the high school youth group throughout this summer as well as the coming year. As the project grows, the youth hope to involve the younger children with garden maintenance, so that the raised beds will continue to be tended and will yield organic vegetables for years to come. First UCC is excited to have this community initiative underway, and invites all who are able to take some vegetables from the new garden!</p>
