  • Our pledge brochure is going to be replaced by a multi-media program you  will see in worship, during coffee hour, and on our website gissucc
  • Information and pledge cards will be included in mailings we already make: quarterly giving statements and “The Chronicle”
  • Materials will also be available in our Sunday worship bulletin, and from the church office
  • You will be able to make your pledge online if you wish
  • You will be able to sign up for your automatic electronic funds transfer online if you wish
  • And you will be able to make donations — at any time — on our website using your bank account or credit card.

Friends, I bring the sad news that my mother passed away tonight about 7:40.  She had been moved from the hospital to the nursing home that is on the same campus as her apartment, with hospice [...]]]> The following was posted by Sandy last evening on the Caring Bridge Site she has set up for her mother:

Friends, I bring the sad news that my mother passed away tonight about 7:40.  She had been moved from the hospital to the nursing home that is on the same campus as her apartment, with hospice care.

It was a very difficut afternoon, but by about 6 pm she was calm and resting.  I am grateful for the efforts of the hospice team and the nursing home staff in making her last hours peaceful.

I have not made any decisions about a service of thanksgiving for her life; that will wait for tomorrow morning.

Jean is here, and I am deeply grateful for her help and companionship.  Just as I am grateful for all of your love and prayers.

Good Morning!  Whatever has brought you to this place at this time, we welcome you, and hope that this hour we spend together in worship and prayer will refresh you and renew you for the week ahead.  We are happy that you have joined us this morning.  My name is Lynne Severson and my husband John and I have been attending First UCC for about 4 years. 

I was reading about the early church and how non-believers remarked, “Look at those Christians.  How they love one another”.          I see that same spirit of care and concern for others in this congregation.  One of the things I really like about First UCC is that the love and support isn’t limited to the membership of this church but reaches out into the Northfield community in so many different ways.  Supporting causes for peace and justice, First UCC also reaches around the world to help others. 

It is important to me to be part of this congregation that takes very seriously Jesus’ teaching to “love your neighbor as yourself”.

The Lord be with you.
