Perhaps you have noticed new landscaping on the south side of the church, and a small area on the east side. Discussions about the entire landscaping design plan for the church have taken place for several years but due to a lack of funds it has never been implemented. Last year, with the support of the Trustees, the Visuals Committee volunteered to coordinate efforts for the south garden with the goal of making it low maintenance area that also included flowering shrubs. Last week, the work was underway beginning with getting an excavating company to come in to fix the drainage problem near the window well. When this was finished, Ron Olson and Phil Parsons installed the landscape fabric. Shrubs were purchased from Knecht’s Nursery and four cubic yards of clear lime rock mulch were delivered from Hernke’s quarry. Volunteers were Christie Hawkins, Nancy Lehman, Ed Lufkin, Suzanne Riesman, Lynne Severson, and two St. Olaf students, Chris Groth and Art Christopherson.
