Now it’s your turn. You are invited to provide feedback on our new governance model. We now have three-plus years of experience to draw on, so we are taking time to learn what works well and where we can make adjustments to better support our ministries. We would especially like to hear from those of you who have served on committees or in leadership positions and have had direct experience working within the new model.

Four focus groups of between 10 to 12 people will be facilitated by Sarah Carlsen and Don Perkins this fall. Here is the schedule:

Wednesday, Sept. 27, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.;

Wednesday, Oct. 11, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.;

Sunday, Nov. 5, 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.; and

Sunday, Nov. 5, 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

You can sign up in a couple of ways: Click  here to be taken to a Google Doc sign up sheet, or give Gladys a call at the office (507-645-7532) and she will help you find the group that works best for you. Prior to your focus group, you will receive questions that will be used to spark the conversation.

You’ll remember there were several compelling reasons for adopting the model. Our committee structure had sprawled and calcified over time. It became increasingly difficult to fill all of the required positions. Leadership wanted to create space at the church council level to do more visioning and strategic planning. By giving more responsibility to staff, we hoped to be more responsive to new ideas and new ministry opportunities.

Please consider participating. It is always helpful to get a variety of perspectives. Your input will be valuable.
